The local slopes have begun making their snow in preparation for ski season. From Harbor Springs to Boyne Falls to Gaylord, there is plenty of skiing to be had around Northern Michigan. A few great ski slopes to visit if you are in the area are:
Nubs Nob: Located in Harbor Springs, Michigan, just off of Pleasantview Road. Nubs Nob is all about skiing and snowboarding. They offer 53 total ski runs and two award-winning terrain parks and are known for their racing leagues and events.
Boyne Highlands: Another ski and snowboard resort, located just minutes away from Nubs Nob. Boyne Highlands offers a slew of activities for the ski lover to the adventurer and offers fantastic food and accommodations for those that want to extend the fun for days and day. You will find 55 downhill runs, 5 terrain parks, 35km of groomed cross country ski trails, snowshoeing, winter horseback riding, tubing, and more. Warm-up by their fire pit and enjoy a smore before you hit the slopes for some night skiing.
Boyne Mountain Resort: Located in Boyne Falls, Michigan, this is another excellent spot to enjoy a day of skiing or an extended adventure when you stay at one of their condos, cabins, or their lodge. They offer 60 downhill runs, seven terrain parks, snow biking, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, tubing, ziplining, and more. You are sure to have a great time at Boyne Mountain Resort.
Treetops Resort: Located in Gaylord, Michigan, this is another stay, ski, play resort. They offer 24 runs that are suitable for all levels of skiers and snowboarders. Not sure you are ready for the hills? Grab some cross country skis or snowshoes and hit the trails. The kids and kids at heart will love the extreme tubing, and to unwind; you can enjoy a sleigh ride after your long day of fun.
Crystal Mountain: Located 40 minutes from Traverse City, in Thompsonville, Michigan, you will find ski hills to suit the beginner skier to the advanced. They have 102 acres of skiable terrain that includes 58 downhill trails and three terrain parks for the adventurer at heart. After a long day of skiing or snowboarding, you can enjoy a horse drawn surrey ride, or if you aren’t ready to relax, you can book an outdoor game of snowy laser tag. This is not just a place to ski, but a place to both unwind and have fun.
Shanty Creek Resort: Just an hour and a half northeast, in Bellaire, Michigan, you can enjoy Shanty Creek Resort that offers not only great skiing but cross-country trails, tubing, dog sledding, and more. If you want to extend the fun through the entire weekend or longer, they offer lodging accommodations and a spa to relax in after a long day of fun.
